Betting Rules

Placing Bets

All bets are placed at the odds displayed at the time of placement. Odds may change after your bet is placed, but your bet is locked in at the price taken.

Market Status

Markets can be Open (accepting bets), Suspended (temporarily closed), or Settled (result determined). No bets can be placed on suspended or settled markets.

Settlement

Markets are settled manually by the bookmaker after the relevant round or event is completed. Winning bets are paid at the odds taken. Losing bets forfeit the stake.

Void Bets

In exceptional circumstances, the bookmaker may void individual bets or entire markets. Void bets have their stake returned.

Palpable Errors (Palp Rule)

If odds are posted in obvious error (e.g. $51.00 instead of $1.50, or a selection priced that is clearly wrong), the bookmaker reserves the right to void any bets placed at those odds or resettle them at the correct price. If you spot odds that look too good to be true, they probably are.

Right to Refuse

The bookmaker reserves the right to refuse, limit, or cancel any bet at his discretion, for any reason. This includes but is not limited to suspected eligibility violations, unusual betting patterns, or bets that exceed the bookmaker's appetite for risk.

Abandoned or Altered Events

If a round is cancelled, significantly shortened, or altered due to weather, injury, player withdrawal, or any other reason, the bookmaker may void affected markets in full or settle them based on results at the point of abandonment. If a player withdraws mid-round, bets involving that player may be voided at the bookmaker's discretion.

Settlement Timing

Markets are settled at the bookmaker's convenience after the relevant event is completed. There is no guaranteed settlement timeframe. The bookmaker may delay settlement to verify results or investigate any concerns.

Disputes

The bookmaker's decision is final on all matters including settlement, voiding, rule interpretation, and any situation not explicitly covered by these rules. No correspondence will be entered into (but feel free to have a whinge in the group chat).

Binding Agreement

By placing a bet on MattBet you agree to pay MattBet in full on any losing bets. All bets are final -- non-cancellable and non-editable. Real money is being exchanged. If you win, MattBet pays you. If you lose, you pay MattBet. No exceptions.

Rule Changes

The bookmaker reserves the right to update, modify, or add to these rules at any time. Continued use of MattBet after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated rules.

Betting Eligibility

Because you are betting on yourself and your mates, the following restrictions apply to keep things fair. These rules exist to prevent any incentive to deliberately underperform.

You CAN bet on yourself to do well

You are free to back yourself in any market where you are predicting your own strong performance — e.g. betting on yourself to win a round, finish top 3, or win a head-to-head match you are playing in.

You CANNOT bet on yourself to do poorly

You may not bet on yourself to finish bottom 3, receive the wooden spoon, lose a head-to-head, or any other market that profits from your own poor performance. You can, however, bet on other players to finish in those positions.

You CANNOT bet on opponents in your own matches

In any head-to-head or match-play market that you are personally involved in, you may not place bets on your opponent to win. This removes any incentive to throw a match. You are free to bet on either side in matches you are not playing in.

Matches you are NOT in

If you are not a participant in a match, you may bet freely on any outcome in that market — no restrictions apply.

Integrity

Collusion & Match Fixing

Any suspicion of collusion, match fixing, or deliberately underperforming to influence the outcome of a bet may result in all bets placed by the offending party being settled as losers, regardless of actual results.

This includes, but is not limited to: coordinating outcomes with other players, intentionally playing poorly to benefit a bet placed by yourself or someone else, or sharing inside information about your intended performance for betting advantage.

The bookmaker's decision on integrity matters is final.

All markets are for entertainment purposes only among trip participants.
